Director of Development

Arlington, VA

The Network’s Mission

The Network’s mission is to defeat human trafficking in the illicit massage industry by 2030. Our multidisciplinary team leverages skills honed in the intelligence community, data analytics, financial services, and victim service provision. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in Northern Virginia and work with partners across the United States. We provide partners with data, intelligence, and tactics to disrupt trafficking in illicit massage businesses (IMBs). Our solution is to attack the business model because trafficking exists for only one reason: it makes money.

The Network is hiring a Director of Development to join the CEO in stewarding and growing our major gifts portfolio (currently ~$3M annual, less than 100 individuals) and planning for future growth. The Director of Development will personally manage a major gifts portfolio, guide the CEO’s fundraising efforts, oversee a foundation/grant team member and build a plan for growth. This is ideally suited for someone with major gifts experience who would like to build a multidisciplinary team.

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Development is a relational individual who is a strategic thinker and a confident self-starter.  The Director of Development should be confident in direct fundraising and making the ask.

The Role

In year one, 60% of the Director of Development’s time will be focused on major- and mid-level fundraising to drive revenue.  The other 40% of their time will be focused on managing a Grant Writer and the existing development system. Currently the CEO delivers 100% of annual revenue through major gifts. One goal of our current development strategy is to decrease reliance on the CEO and diversify revenue streams. With donor retention exceeding 80% and a robust prospect pipeline in place, our fundraising fundamentals are strong. However, the CEO is currently operating at full capacity, constraining our ability to scale development efforts.
